Sunday Night Freedom

M's hockey league has started back, which means I have Sunday nights free again! Rejoice! I love having this time to myself to relax and get ready for the work week. Usually I have a bit of school work to finish but I've also added something new to my routine.

First, I flip on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition which I really don't enjoy because Ty Pennington is sooo annoying, but it creates good background noise. Next, I search my closet and pick out five outfits for the week. I steam everything and hang it all up in our guest bedroom closet.

Voila, now everything is ready for the week and getting ready in the mornings is painless! A friend of mine does this (perhaps not anymore since being on mat leave?) and thought it was a tad crazy, until I tried it! So many mornings I'd search for something to wear, try on a million different things, and waste a lot of time. Not anymore.

It takes about half an hour and increases the temperature in the condo by 2 degrees because the steamer is on for a long time, but, it's worth it.

  1. That sounds like a great idea..... I never knew you were so organized.... (well, yes I did... I found out when you were planning your wedding!!)
It would be easy for me.... I swear the people at work know what day of the week it is by the clothes I wear... maybe I'll switch them up a bit this week and really confuse them.

  2. That is an awesome idea. Sometimes I am organized enough to plan one day ahead, but planning for the whole 5 days? Genius. I hate that panic when I get up in the morning and think "crap! What am I going to wear?!"

  4. Ha Ha ...hmmm I wonder which friend you are referring to. See I'm not crazy, just VERY organized. I've been doing it since highschool and we wore uniforms there. I don't pick out clothes for the week anymore but if I know I have to be somewhere the next day then I make sure to pick something out for both Stella and myself. It saves so much time.

  5. Jilly, you're so wise! I really like your idea! I wish I had a steamer, it wouldn't make me so lazy to iron everything! Thanks for the tip!

  7. I did this for a long time when I had the space to pull it out and I have a steamer as well and just love it. Sunday night hockey is the best-I love the free time, although, sometimes I go watch and cheer him on because he is so good and I love watching him on the ice!

  8. Oh noes, Sunday night hockey has now been cancelled for the rest of the season due to lack of players. Time to find another group!
